BOARD MEMBERS
Co-Presidents – Presides at all board and parent meetings.
Oversees all committees and is coordinator between professional
staff and parents. Coordinates Ways ‘n Means committee.
Treasurer – Provides a written financial report at
each monthly board meeting. Prepares annual budget.
Secretary – Keeps the minutes of all meetings. Sends
needed correspondence. Serves as town contact for Fabulous
Fall Festival.
Registrar – Makes sure all forms are turned in on
a timely basis. Coordinates annual Open House. Works with
Director on folders and handbooks for September and May meetings.
Makes follow-up calls welcoming new families. Coordinates
September family picnic.
Class Mothers (One per class) – Arrange class participation
schedules. Make emergency phone calls when necessary. Assists
teacher with parties. Represents all class issues at monthly
Board meetings.
Maintenance/Safety Coordinator – Coordinates 3 or
4 exterior clean-ups per year with parents. Makes sure closet
is stocked with cleaning supplies throughout the school year.
Fabulous Fall Festival (2 people) – Oversee the annual
Fall Festival fundraiser.
Spring Concert/Moms’ Dinner – Coordinates this
spring event of concert, dinner & raffles.
Library/Book Fair – Oversees the library committee
and coordinates the annual Book Fair.
Publicity – Prepares articles and sends them to newspapers.
Keeps scrapbook of all publicity on the school. Serves as
publicity co-chair for Fall Festival.
Childcare Coordinator – Coordinates the “in-house”
babysitting for younger siblings.
Parent Advocate – Serves as liaison between parents
& staff. Supports parents in the co-oping experience.
Responsible for fall parents co-op training. Plans speaker
for Feb/Mar parents meeting. Serves as Alumni Relations Coordinator.
Scrip Coordinator – Coordinates the Scrip gift card
program.
(All of the above positions are board positions, which require
monthly attendance at board meetings.)
COMMITTEE
Arts ‘n Crafts (2 people per class level) –
Assists teachers by cutting out shapes, etc. for projects.
Most work to be done at home.
Book Club – Coordinates Scholastic book program; dates
flyers, collects order and fills in master order. Co-chair
annual Book Fair with Library Chair.
Classroom Camera – Oversees classrooms’ digital
cameras; downloads photos onto CDs and is responsible for
end of year slideshow
Field Trip Arrangements (1 person per class level) –
Under teacher’s direction, arranges all trips ouside
of school. Writes up specific trip details for take-home folders.
Fish Care – Oversees care of classroom fish tanks.
Cleans tanks 4 or 5 times per year.
Hospitality Committee – Sets up and cleans up coffee
and refreshments for the 3 parents meetings and other events
during the year. Makes calls to obtain baked goods.
Kitchen (4 people) Take kitchen dishtowels home to be laundered;
put away all dishes and straighten countertops at the end
of each week. Launder classroom curtains twice a year. Members
serve one week each month on a rotating basis.
Library (4 people) – Oversees the operation of the
library/computer room (keep neat and re-shelve the returned
books). Enter books into the computer. Members serve one week
each month on a rotating basis. Assist with the annual Book
Fair.
Newsletter/Computer Support (1/2 people) – Produces
biweekly one-page newsletter, monthly calendars and other
items as needed. Files catalogs.
Purchasing (4 people) – Buys snacks, juice, coffee,
etc. for the school. Members serve one week each month on
a rotating basis.
Recycling (4 people) – Takes empty bottles, cans and
newspaper to recycling center weekly. Members serve one week
each month on a rotating basis.
Ways ‘n Means Committee (3/4 people) – Under
guidance of Co-Presidents, coordinates small fundraisers and
assists with Book Fair & Spring Show.
Website – Updates website and maintains web server as
needed throughout school year
